Social work in schools is complex and multi-faceted. Not only do social workers need to understand how to work effectively with children and adolescents, but they also need a firm grasp of school policy, structure of school systems, and collaborative team-based approaches. This course will equip social workers to work effectively and ethically in a school environment and gain knowledge and skills to provide clinical, mental health services within their role. They will gain skills in assessment, common mental health diagnoses, treatment planning, interventions, and evaluation that work well in a fast-paced school setting.
